Crash Near Cameron Lake

Oceanside RCMP are reporting that shortly after 2:30 AM on Tuesday, February 14th, a 19 year-old Port Alberni resident traveling westbound on the Alberni Highway was involved in a single vehicle crash near Cameron Lake. The driver reported losing control of her vehicle after swerving to avoid a small animal. The vehicle rolled onto its roof. The driver, the lone occupant of the vehicle, was transported to West Coast Hospital in Port Alberni with cuts to her head and hands. Police report that alcohol was not a factor in the crash, and they are taking this opportunity to remind drivers that that “the damages caused by a collision with a small animal are usually far less severe than the results of trying to swerve and avoid them.”
